I picked up a 100 pce spindle of TYs from BlankDVDMedia.

The discs are purple on one side and silver on the other. On the inner ring it says "GG007031". Yet when I turn on DVD Decrypter it says there are no Medium present. Have I been duped?

    magic_bus,
That code is not on the inner ring of the Ty's that I have. Doing a google search really gives no info. You might have fake Ty disks. I would see if they would take them back and also I have never heard of that website. When you input the website name I get another website. Try buying good quality blank media from reputable companies on the net like Newegg, Rima, Supermediastore.

Well, I need it shipped to Canada, so it kind of limits my choices. Also, even if they were fake I can't imagine why imgBurn wouldn't detect them. My shitty Memomorex's work fine with it.

Imgburn does not recognise it because it is not a valid MID code that your burner recog. Your burner could be dying BUT I think you got scammed w/ the DVD's. If you bought them w/ a credit card then dispute the charge as fraud

    cougar_ii,
He did state he bought them from BlankMedia.com. When I googled that it brings you to another site. Went to the site you listed and the prices look OK. I think now he put .com instead of .ca Have you ever seen the MID code he listed

    magic_bus,
Make sure your burner is up-to-date w/ the firmware

    magic_bus,
I think you got the real deal there buddy. The "code" you indicate is GG00XXXX and according to docTY they are the genuine article. 8X DVD-R TYG02 Taiyo Yuden media if you've given the proper #'s off the inner hub "code". :)

    link to docTY thread

What OS are you running? Either way you may need to d/l a fresh install of DVDDecrypter and IMGBURN.

ALSO you might need to update the f/w on your DVD-RW drive. Which drive is it and what f/w is installed?

Some things to look at for now. :)

    magic_bus,
OK sounds like you got the real deal, again. :) blankmedia.ca is a REPUTABLE company from all the Canadians that I've talked to.

To identify your media you might try DVD Identifier, it's free and easy to use. There are some others but this will work. If you have Nero you can use Nero Info Tool as well. :)

I would almost guess you got TYG02's.

Let us know how it's going. :)

This may be your drive. Have you tried DVD Identifier yet? It should give something on the drive ID and f/w version. :)

    lite-on 822s (hp 8x DVD+R/RW DL drive)

If this is the case it will not read DVD-R media which the TYG02 and TYG03 are. ;)

I would SUGGEST that you look into buying a new drive for your machine if this is the case. They don't cost much and will save you the trouble of sending the discs back. DVD-R media is cheaper online and if you get TY's you can't go wrong.

Now on the other hand if you prefer not to buy a new drive, send the discs back and get some Verbatim DVD+R discs. Here is a link that will help you out. ;) verbs at newegg.com

I hope this answers some questions. I'm guessing/assuming that I'm right on your drive, so the reason for my suggestions and the direction that I took. :)

So, do you have any favorite brands or preconceived ideas on one over the other? :)

Pioneer DVR-112D (I can help you make this drive better with patched f/w)

Lite-On LH-20A1H-186 retail with Lightscribe if you're interested

    LIte-On LH-20A1P-185-OEM w/o lightscribe

LIte-On LH-18A1P I have this drive and it does a great job

I own the LH-18A1P and the Pioneer DVR-112 so I'm a little biased but you should look at some of the other drives and wait for some other input from members. :)
