i rip them into iso, shrink them and then go to "iso write" mode. Durin the "writing lead in" process it tells me that i have a i/o device error... what doea this mean and how do i fix it? I've had this error before and i don't remember how i fixed it. Could is be aspi related?
I aspichk sais aspi are properly installed. I am trying to back up movies that I own because i tend to not take good care of my stuff. I can't find anything on the net about lead in error..just lead out. please help me

The first thing I'd suggest is going to I/O Magic's site and checking for an updated firmware and installing it if there is one.

Can you post the error log that Decrypter gives you? Are you using the latest version of Decrypter?

How do you have your drive set up? Is it set to Master on it's IDE? Are you using an 80-pin IDE cable?

OK, i fixed the problem and if anybody else has this problem here's how to fix it. It was a ASCI related problem. I Downloaded the new adaptec aspi drivers and had to go into D.O.S and "edit" the name of the wowpost.ex_ and winaspi.dl_ to wowpost.exe and winaspi.dll. I had researched this before but was unaware that to edit the file extension you had to go into D.O.S. and not just click on the name in Windows.

Now about Nero, the last time my burner decided to "not work" it was because I installed Nero in the first place since my burner worked with DVD decrypter untill I installed Nero, however Nero 6.0 came with the purchase of the DVD burner so I figured it'd be ok. Since "upgrading" Nero was a suggestion from a moderator I shall experiment.
Thanx to everyone who tried to help me

Actually I was asking because I have the same problem but yet to rectify it. LDW-851SX. Trying to burn .gi file or any iso.

    I have:
*Latest GS0K firmware and also tried the default old one.
*Installed the latest USB 2.0 drivers
*XP SP1 installed. Windows XP 32bit.
*Tried ASPI 4.60 and 4.7.2 and Nero's latest one.
*Switched between the default windows SPTI and ASPI.
    *Ritek g04 -r and Mitsubishi -r
    *Tried 1x, 2x, 4x write.

None of it works and still gives my an I/O error during the write/lead in.

Got a pile of wasted dvd's -_- if anyone has had this problem and fixed it please let me know.

yes, i have. on two computers.

The main thing is, nero works for other files extensions for burning.

And you get the same I/O error, I assume?

Do you have any sort of packet writing apps installed such as InCD, DLA or Drag To Disc? If you do it'd be a good idea to uninstall them and try again.

    Yes same I/O problem.

No other burning apps are installed except alcohol and no packet writing ones you described.

The main thing is that it's only coming up with .gi extension and with dvd decrpyter.

It may be due to the fact that Decrypter is set up to burn ISO's only even though .gi appears to be an image extension.
