Dvd drive not working with windows media 11

    Since installing windows media player 11 my dvd drive doesnt read any type of disk apart from cds,the dvd drive comes up empty every time,ive tryed removing it but wont fully go as it is apart of windows program,

    computer Packard bell IMED 1408 DESKTOP,INTEL PENT 4,2.93GHZ,448MBRAM ,,,,Dvd/cd rom drives NEC DVD RW ND 3530A

    Is windows media 11 compatible with my dvd drive,as im scratching my head trying to find the problem

    Go into hardware manager and uninstall the secondary IDe controller. Now reboot and let windows reinstall it. see if that helps.
