Ok i have a dual boot with windows xp and ubuntu, and i am running some dvd programs like ImgBurn, DVD Decrypter, and DVD Shrink with Wine.

My problem is that the programs are only seeing my dvd burner, but not my DVD-ROM drive. When i try to open a dvd with DVD Shrink it says "Failed to initialize ASPI device"

This is odd because the dvd icon still comes up on the desktop when i put a dvd in.

Anyone have an idea how to fix this?

Yeah.. either work wholly in linux or wholly in windows.. Wine is buggy sh*t at the best of times, especially when it comes to accessing drives/ports. There are open-source equivalents of all the windows programs you are trying to use in *nix.

Take a look at this guide for settings in winecfg for these programs.

    http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/478357

What OS are you using in your winecfg settings?

Do you have both of your drives set to CD-ROM in the drive type drop down under the advanced settings?
