I know this has been discussed before but I wanted to see if anyone can help...

I typically use Princo Disks without problem for my PS2, with my Toshiba SD-R5112 burner. However, I am finding them increasingly difficult to get ahold of them so I tried Ritek since I have heard they are so much better. I ended up getting 4x Ridata disks which say "General Version 2.0" disks but I didn't realize they also say 2x/4x burning. So in the end I had to burn these disks at 2x, which has been causing several probs with games freezing, whereas the Princo disks have never had problems, burnt at 1x.

Is it the disks or the burn speed? ... Can I get Ritek disks that burn @ 1x? If so, what kind?...

    Thanks

What do you mean by media code? ...

I dunno if they're g04 dvd-r disks or not?... All i know is when i set them to burn at 1x, they end up burning @ 4x so I have to set them @ 2x.

    The media says ritek g04...

I have a feeling it's the burn speed, just because this has happened on several games whereas it has never happened on the princo disks. Some ritek games do play ok, but some freeze @ certain spots every time. I have noticed my ps2 has been getting more finicky with the disk reading with my SMDs... I've only been able to read about complaints about people with the same burner who say things burn only at 1x instead of 4x but not the other way around!...

Hey convolute i also use princo disc for my movies and games and had no problem with them. if u need more princo disc stop at compusa. they disc that say there name on it,compusa is made by princo. or go online and order some. go to blank media and pick the type of dvd-r under the name fmi. u can get a 50 pack for 40 bucks, 15 pack for 10 bucks, 100 pack for 59 bucks. u can get them at just 1x speed, 2x speed, or 1-4x speed. hope that helps u out in trying to get more of the princo disc. odb

those g04 discs can be written by myself at 1x it also says in the disc info that they can be written at 1x and you say that you could write princo discs at 1x so your writer supports 1x burning, the only things i can suggest is try a different burning software and see if that helps or maybe see if there's a firmware update for your writer that gives better support for the ritek dvdr discs

    Thanks guys!...

I don't like ordering disks online just because they are so readily available elsewhere around here. (Canada/Toronto area)... Plus I've seen princo as cheap as $25 cdn for a 50 pack... I was just a tad annoyed when I find places that say they have them, and they end up being out of stock, and my usual place where I get them aren't as cheap now with the prices having gone down, and they don't even have them in stock... Whereas I see Ritek g04 disks are everywhere, and since I keep hearing they are great, I thought I'd try them out...

I use Alcohol btw as my burning software...
