Hello I need help to solve a problem

I am converting divx to DVD using the follow steps:
    TMPGEnc to convert
    IFOEdit for authoring
    Nero for Burning DVD Video

A use a Samsung WriteMaster to Burn and I've tried all kinds of media (bad to good, cheap to expensive,-R to -RW, etc.)

What happens is when i play the DVD in my standalone player (SONY DAV-S550) in the beginning of the movie it freezes for while.

Can anyone help me with this problem?

    Hi there,

After reading a lot in here, I can probably say freezing is related to:

    1- Cheap Media

2- Burning speed should always be done at 2x or 4x MAX

3- When you encode, screensavers, antivirus and other programs that may affect the PC's performance should be halted.

If you want to convert your DivX (*.AVI) to DVD in 1 shot, have a look at VSO DivXtoDVD.

    http://www.vso-software.fr/

Very nice and the end result is nice.
    Still free.

If you have more than 1 .AVI file, for now, use VirtualDUB to join them 1st.

Future release of DivXtoDVD will let you import more than 1 file (That's what it says on the VSO Website).

    thank you for your answer

i think i can say i fullfill all your 3 reasons

i've tried to burn in good media
    i've burn using 2x
i've encode during the night when i was using nothing else.

another detail is that the movie only freezes at the beginning (let's say 3-4 minutes) then it plays well.

    Meanwhile i'll look DivxToDVD

hhmmmmnnn.I had a similar problem with a sony dvd player a while ago.REALLY fussy about what dvd-r it would play.Solved it by buying a panasonic.Seems sony stuff is SO fussy and nepatistic. So, it might not be your media.Try those discs in another standalone player...if they play ditch the sony.If they dont...ditch the discs

Maybe im bieng a bit too clinical here...try another way of encoding/burning.It might make a differance and is cheaper than buying a new player!when you say youve used good media...what was it?Try a taiyo Yuden or a verbatim disc....riteks aint what they used to be

If i buy anu Pirate DVD or if i put some other DVD burn by others it plays fine in my sony.
Even if its a cheap DVD.

Could it be a compatiblity problem beetween sony player and samsung writer?
