DVD-R or DVD+R

    i am going to buy a dvd burner and i dont know what these too things are, plus or minus, whats the difference?
    do i have to buy different blank dvd's depending on which one i buy, what is the difference???

    Well +R and -R are the different sides of a coin. They do the same job, and nobody needs them both. Actually the reason they exist is that Sony and Philips cannot agree to the writable DVD media standard.

    Yes you will have to buy both media but you have to be careful which your burner supports. If you are buying a burner make sure it supports -R media since they are more likely to work at a stand-alone DVD player.

    I'd suggest a dual format drive. Pioneer DVR-A06 is a very good choice and if you can spend some more money have a look at the new Plextor 708A.

    They both write to -R and +R media so that you can be sure that you will have no problem!
