I'm not sure what exactly the problem is, but my computer is saying that DVD-R disks are unwritable. I'v been using DVD-R disks exclusively and have not even tried DVD+R etc. so I"m not understanding why all of the sudden my computer won't accept them. Any suggestions of how I might fix this or figure out what the problems would really be appreciated.

    What program are you using?
What brand of media (Blank DVD) are you using?
What is your Burner make and Model?

It is kind of hard to help without a little more information.

Try updating your Firmware here is a link to your firmware Liteon SOHW-1633S

The reason I put the LiteOn Firmware there is because your drive is actually a LiteOn drive badged by Sony.

When I tried opening the file an error message popped up saying "No matched drive detected! This utility is only for LITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-1633S drive.

Hmmm thats odd. Well there is no update from sony for your drive. Are these discs new or have you been able to burn any from this batch before?

BenQ supplied Sony with Sony branded drives. Lite-On made the OEM Sony drives. The "DW" suggests a BenQ brand. (All this is up for grabs once Optiarc got involved in competing for Sony business.)
