DVD REcorders, Like panasonic, dvd player/recorder

    can movies be burned with these the same way they are burn on a computer?

    Unfortunately No. DVD recorders can't bypass the copy protection used in DVDs.

    As Zippd stated no, I own this unit and you cannot backup DVDs or VHS tapes. You can record from any media that has aready been backed up but nothing that is copyrighted. Besides the quality you get from trying to backup this way is not as good as you would get using you PC.
