I have a DVD LG 4082B drive and recently I had to change my motherboard, and as a result I had to reinstall the OS. Since then my dvd drive doesn't read cd's anymore. It reads dvd fine and aparently burns them too. But there's no way it will read or burn a cd. Can anyone help.
the OS is Win XP Pro.

On my system I have HP System Diagnostics which shows info. about my PC (e.g. system, hardware and software devices, drivers) and how they are connected. Since you have changed the motherboard and reinstalled the OS, there is a chance that something has messed up during the process (e.g. improper connection). But if you don't have a system diagnostics tool, may be you should first check on system info. whether the PC has recognized the DVD drive correctly, and whether the PC is using the proper driver for the drive.

My OS recognizes the drive properly.
I tried another dvd drive from the same model/brand and worked properly so I opened up mine and cleaned it up and as a result the drive has been working fine now.
    Thanks for trying to help.
