    Hi,

I have been searching the site for some info on the following but came to a dead end.

I am trying to back up my DVD DL sat nav disk from my Toyota car. I have managed to create the image OK using both Nero and DVDdecryter and have transferred back to a DL disk (image 6.8GB) but the disk is not recognised. I have noticed that the original disk format is DVD-ROM (which I believe is standard for most DVD's) and I am trying to burn to a DL +R DVD. I have burnt the backup disk using both the tools above on seperate disks. Has anyone done this before??

Good stuff - thanks for that.

I take it that this only works for certain burners that are listed - LG etc. My is Samsung and I will give this ago anyhow.

just one more thing....... use Verbatim DL disks! Other DL disks are not as compatible or are lesser quality than the Verbatim disks.

    2. hit the LG Tab
    3. CHANGE FOR DVD+R media
    4. DVD-ROM..... then hit change!

Does anyone have any thoughts on this - I suspect I am doing something wrong but just can't figure it out.

after all that my guess is you're drive doesn't support booktyping

call the manufacturer(Samsung tech support) to make sure

Ok, After getting some info from the disks I have found that bitsetting may not be the issue. Please see below:-

    The original disk info is:-

    Region information N/A not a DVD-VIDEO
Media code/Manufacturer ID N/A Pressed DVD
    UDF Format Type V1.02
    UDF Volume Name 86271_70V311B
    UDF Application id
    UDF Implementation id
    UDF Recording Date/Time (mm/dd/yyyy) 11/ 7/2002 14:13:28
    Format Capacity 6.07GB(6.52GB)
    Book Type DVD-ROM
    Media Type DVD-ROM
    Data area starting sector 30000h
    Data area end sector 30910Dh
    Linear Density 0.293um/bit
    Track Density 0.74um/track
    Number of Layers 2
Layer Track Path direction (PTP) Parallel track path

    And the back up is:-
    Region information N/A not a DVD-VIDEO
    Media code/Manufacturer ID RITEK D01
    Media Product Revision Number 01h
    UDF Format Type V1.02
    UDF Volume Name 86271-60V661A
    UDF Application id
    UDF Implementation id
    UDF Recording Date/Time (mm/dd/yyyy) 7/18/2006 12:15:56
    Format Capacity 6.75GB(7.25GB)
    Book Type DVD-ROM
    Media Type DVD+R DL
    Data area starting sector 30000h
    Data area end sector 3601FFh
    Layer 0 end sector 1E00FFh
    Linear Density 0.293um/bit
    Track Density 0.74um/track
    Number of Layers 2
Layer Track Path direction (OTP) Opposite track path

The only difference is the Layer track path direction, i.e. the back up is OTP where the original is PTP.

Is there something I need to do in the software (DVDdecrypter or Nero) where I can set PTP and not OTP.

Any help would be gretfully received.
