Newbie needs help with DVD-RW. I have a P4 system and installed Pioneer DVD-A04. I bought 1st set (25) of Meritline lowest price DVD-RW. At 1st, all burns were great using DVD X Copy. Later, maybe a mistake, I ran the firmware upgrade for the Pioneer. Later, I started getting random bad burns. The DVD-RW is not accessible. The drive light stays on after a bad burn. I thought DVD-RW could be reformatted but Nero can't access the DVD in the drive. Just confirmed that my Pioneer rev level was upgraded to 1.32 Could that be my problem with the Meritline DVD-RW?
Just completed firmware change back to 1.20 The MeritLine DVD-RW's (white top, silver bottom) show as Pre-recorded Information: Manufacturer ID: PRINCO Physical Format Information: Book Type: DVD-RW Part Version: 2 Disc Size: 120mm Maximum Read Rate: 10.08Mbps Number of Layers: 1 Track Path: Parallel Track Path (PTP) Linear Density: 0.267 um/bit Track Density: 0.74 um/track After firmware change to 1.20 I was able to mount a previous DVD-RW that would not previous and erase it. Still have 9 DVD-RW's that won't mount.
