Hi, I'm new to the dvd burning world. I just bought a HP dvd writer 630i and tried burning a copy of shrek 2. I used dvd shrink, When I click on the "backup" button, I kept getting an error "DVD Shrink encountered an error and cannot continue. Copy Protection error the request could not be performed because of an I/O device error." I read a forum and disabled burning with nero, this allowed me to start the encryption process. After that was done it automatically opened up dvd decrypter and I went to copy the movie, it started, got to 28% and an error msg came up saying

    I/O error
    Device:[1:1:0] HP DVD writer 630c AH26 (E:)(ATA)
    ASPI SRB status:0X00
    Interpretation:SRB completed with error
    Host Adapter Status:0x00
Interpretation: Host adapter did not detect an error
    Target status:0x02
    Interpretation:check condition
    CDB:
    Sense area:
    Interpretation:invalid address for write

Anyone know why I'm getting this and how I can solve it?

    Thanks in advance!

Disney is kinda notorious for this, the same way that Columbia Tristar is becoming. I'm pretty sure it's the same problem though. Try this:

Run Shrek 2 through DVD Decrypter [bold]1st[/bold] in [bold]FILE[/bold] mode.

Then take the output files you get and run it through DVD Shrink.

After that it's just a matter of burning it. Nero or Decrypter whichever you prefer.

Also what kind of media are you using?
