I have a DVD that fails in Full backup with CRC errors. There is a single title but I want to try and backup the good chapters. The re-author also fails with the CRC error.
Is there any way to get to the chapters and just extract the ones that still play?

In the DVD player there are still good episodes on the DVD

Not sure if we are talking about the same thing when it comes to 'episodes' and 'chapters'.
The old DVD Decrypter (not the new DVDFab) is quite good at ripping troublesome disks (but it can't handle the new protections).
Try to rip the complete disk in 'File' mode first.
It will list the files and you can skip ones that it's having trouble with.

    The alternate mode is 'IFO'.
Here you can select an episode (a PGC as shown here) and the chapters within that episode.
You can also click the 'Stream Processing' tab and select the audio you want to keep.
The drawback of IFO mode is that it saves each chapter as a separate file and you have to reconstruct the episode from them.

Is the surface damaged? If so, get a cheap resurfacing unit for $25 or so. They come in handy every now and then.
