I've used DVD Shrink 3.2 on my Windows 7 machine successfully in the past but suddenly have enountered an error that I'm looking for solutions with. The program opens fine, reads the title of the DVD okay and then I get a "DVD Shrink enountered an error and cannot continue" with "Failed to read file 'D:\'" right below that. I've tried unstalling and reinstalling DVD Shrink to no avail. Any ideas on what may be causing this? I can read the files just fine using other DVD programs so don't believe it's a hardware issue. Any ideas? TIA

I Think It's Shrink Showing its Age.

Use a Newer Program (DVDFab or ANYDVD)

Yeah, I don't know. I'd sure like to know why it worked fine before and suddenly decided to 'act up'. Either something to do with MS 'updates' OR possibly something to do with AnyDVD. Does dvdfab do the shrink like DVD Shrink does?

Shrink Hasn't Been UpDated in Over 6 Years, Newer Encryptions Are a Hit or Miss With It.
AnyDVD Nor DFab Have any Effect on Shrink's Operation.
    DFab Does Compress
ANYDVD Doesn't. It Runs in the Background, You Can Have it Running and Do your Normal Thing With Shrink. ANYDVD has a 21 Day Trial. (Highly Recommend Trying It)

has anyone found the answer to the problem? I am having the same problem, everything is copy write protect, with an i/o file error also? and when you try to re-author you only get a audio and video file that doesn't open.

use dvdfab and only back up the main movie and use dvdshrink to
write it. this should do the trick. sometimes movies have a
redunduncy error that they put to aviod being copied.

The problem is Dvd Shrink is outdated. In short, update to either DvdFab or Anydvd.

You can use DvdFab to rip and compress (and burn if you so desire)

Or you can use Anydvd with Shrink or to rip to the HDD and open Shrink (or DvdRB) from there.

    EDIT: for clarification
