Due to school, I have not been able to do much ripping since last Fall. I noticed there is a new version of DVD Shrink out (I have the Beta 5 version). Is this new version better than the Beta? What changes have been made that improve or hurt it? Also, does anyone know if the new dual layer recordables are worth getting and would they work with DVD Shrink, Decrypter or any of the other rip & burn software?

It's much better. It now has a feature to automatically enable burning with either Nero or Decrypter.

Depends on how pioneering you want to be. The drives are out but the media isn't. The media will be pricey and I've seen no announcements for DL RW so mistakes can get expensive, but then again I'm a pessimist so you be the judge :)

Shrink doesn't do any burning so it's n/a, I believe Nero 6 has DL support and it remains to be seen if the author of Decrypter will add DL support.

So If I wanted to rip a movie with shrink with no compression and burn with nero there would be no settings you would have to make in shrink like the size. I know there is a setting in shrink where you can change the custom size. What would be the custom size for a dvd-9 or a 8.5 gig dual layer dvd and would nero already know that your burning a dual layer when the burn process starts.

If your goal is an uncompressed transfer to a dual layer blank, I'd suggest simply ripping with DVD Decrypter and then burning with Nero - I believe the latest version of Nero 6 has DL burning support.
