I have followed the directions perfectly. I just want to do a full backup of my Vanilla Sky or The Matrix DVD and whenever I click "Backup" on the toolbar, the program quits. I have already done the "Open Disc" step and it did fine. When I click Backup, the DVD Shrink program simply quits, like it had never been opened. I'm new to this so forgive me if this q has been answered elsewhere and I couldn't find it. I have no problem backing up my DVD's using DXD Xcopy Xpress. I do use Nero as a burner, but with DVD Shrink I never get that far. Any ideas are appreciated. Please help because I need to use DVD Shrink since DVD XCopy is no longer supported.

Hi there lexusgss, welcome to aD,

Huuummm, It sounds like the twilight zone, huh ?

Sounds like a corrupt file or button -

Let's uninstall that "Puppy" and reinstall it again in a different directory and see if we can do better, OK ?

Let me know how you make out -

    Pete

Well, I tried what you said, divemaster and had no luck. I even re-downloaded DVD Shrink. The exact think happened again. The program closes and vanishes without a trace! When I go to "Open Disc" again , it does not have to go through the whole process again. Ot is ready for "Backup" which closes the program. Bummer.

    lexusgss,

That would be "Instructor" if you don't mind - NAUI, CMAS (currently), Past PADI, YMCA.

You downloaded it in a different directory ?

OK, let's re-check our settings - While you do that, I'll send for a specialist -

Well, I created a new folder in the programs folder. I called the new folder by a different name. Is that what you mean by "creating a different directory"?

    lexusgss,

    No, not quite,

Programs Files is a Directory, My Documents is a Directory, Documents and Settings is also a Directory.

Directories are where "Folders" are - and sometimes where other Directories are also.

It doesn't matter where you download most programs, they will still open up on your desktop :)

NOTE: Your C:\ is not a Directory as such. It is called a "Root Directory". Better to use one of the ones I listed -

    Cheers,

    Pete

Basta! I tried in in several different directories and no luck. I wonder what in the world is going on? Maybe XCopy Xpress has something to do with it. I can't uninstall that program b/c 321 will probably never give me out the key again, since it is not supported. Darn, Darn, Darn (jumping up and down, rattling the kitchen dishes). This just doesn't make sense. Too bad b/c this sounds like a great program. Maybe God wants it this way. Maybe DVD Shrink is not existential. Arrgh! It just shuts down with no warning. Now dear aqua-man, do you know where the temp folder is for DVD Shrink? Any other ideas? Thank you for your kind help. You are very nice. By the way, I have no other programs open when running this.

Oh yes I meant to tell you I have XP Professional, Pentium 4, 2.4 gigs, 60 gig HD, DVD+RW NEC 1100A (standard on Dell), service pack 2 is installed. NERO 5.5.10.0 I never get any error messages from my PC. My 321 software works fairly well (10% coasters). Peace.

Let's start over from the beginning as at sometime someone told me that DVD Shrink 3.2.15 didn't work with Nero 5.

Anyway, uninstall DVD Shrink with it's own uninstall proggy - Then follow the guide about the middle of the page with the downloads there and PRINT OUT AND FOLLOW every step and setting given and you should be OK -
