I last used Dvd shrink about a month ago, now when I try to backup after about 11mb it it comes up with the error message:
DVD Shrink encountered an error and cannot continue.
    Failed to write file "D:***_***VTS_01_0.VOB"
The semaphore timeout period has expired.
    I have uninstalled and reinstalled
    Any help appreciated

    Hi,

A semaphore timeout occurs when your drive loses communication with the rest of your system. There are two things I'd suggest trying first:

    1) Make sure your ASPI layer is in good order. ForceASPI is a great one. Post back if you need help installing it.

    2) Ensure DMA is enabled for your drives. Here's a link:

Actually, I am getting this same error, except instead of saying "The semaphore timeout period has expired", mines said "access denied". And it does it at the very end of encoding (with like 90% completed). What does this mean? What should I do?

    Hi everyone,
I keep getting an error message when using DVD Shrink that says that DVD Shrink can't read from the drive. What does this mean and how do i get the DVD Shrink to analyze my movie.
    Please help.
