I have some footage on a DVD that I want to use in a program that can work on mpeg2 files, but not VOBs.

I've been reading the guides and information on this site and I've managed to convert it, but I've gone through DVD Decrypter, DVD2AVI and TMPGEnc to do it.

Now since DVDs are already in mpeg2 it seems like there should be a simpler, faster way to convert the decrypted VOB to a usable mpeg2 file.

    Any ideas?

Try just changing the file extension on .vob to .mpg or .mpeg. Seems like I've seen someone on this forum mention that it will work. If not WinAvi video converter will do the trick.

    Good Luck

    Hello,
I was wondering if renaming the files worked I am going to try that tonight let me know what solution finally worked for you. What I am wanting to do is convert dvd to mpeg 2 so I can edit using Roxio then recompile my film in a Dvd and VCd format.
