Xilisoft DVD Ripper 4 Platinum is very easy and very good...

Can make very high quality rips, decent compression, lots of settings
And it can convert to MPEG4, AVC, or H.264
Had no issues with it so far and I don't think you need a DVD Decrypter like AnyDVD, although I do have that I don't think you need it.

It ain't exactly free tho.. ;)
    Try TorrentSpy

u want the best thing then get the xvid4psp.
convert ur dvd to 480x272 resoultion pmp file with it.
keep the bit rate of video around 500.
    then convert it .
ur output file will be less about 350mb and it will be a pmp file
then put the sofware pmpmodavc in ur psp.
use it to play the copied movie
with this conversion u get the video quality of movie similar to UMD movie

.PMP is basically the PSP Video format on the UMD so it's about as close as you can get to UMD Movie quality.

I still prefer H.264, it basically has THE best compression out of all the codecs support by the PSP.
