    Hello!

First time posting here, although I've been reading your guides. I ran into a bit of a pickle.

My mother wanted a specific movie that has not been sold a bit, so I have an AVI of it, and I wanted to burn it to a dvd since she doesn't own a computer and is a bit of a technophobe.

I converted the AVI to a .iso format using DeeVeeDee (not sure if there's a problem with this - I can try a different program if reccomended).

I then burned using first k3b (didn't work) and after reading some helpful comments on here - imgburn. Whenever I put the dvd in my player (and hers) I get a 'Playback prohibited by area limitations'.

Obviously its not a region-free dvd player.

I checked the ISO with DVDecrypter and it showed a VIDEO_TS folder but no AUDIO_TS folder. Any idea what I might be doing wrong?

Her birthday is approaching fast and I'm not sure what to do! Any advice?

Get yourself a copy of Nero. Once installed, pop open Nero Vision. Select Make DVD, DVD Video. Then select add video files . After making the menu and going past the preview of what your menu will look like, a popup should come up saying "Your project contains more PAL than NTSC material, but will be encoded in NTSC if you use the current settings. Do you want to change the settings to PAL, so that your project will be encoded in the video mode that matches the majority of the project's contents?" Select NO and let it go, it will take a few hours. This should work

Another way.Load the AVI into vsoDivxToDVD and output to a DVD folder.

    http://dl.afterdawn.com/vsoDivxToDVD_setup_v0.5.2b.exe
Import the file(s) (AVI, WMV,MPEG, VOB)
Output (standard DVD file format) to a folder on the HDD.
Set 'Aspect' to 4:3 (if you have a regular tv)
Set 'Standard' to NTSC (if you live in North America)

    Burn dvd with 'ImgBurn'

    Run ImgBurn
    Mode > 'Build'
    Output > 'Device'
File > 'Browse for Folder', highlight on the 'VIDEO_TS' folder, > 'OK'
Set burning speed at 4x and click the green write button.

I tried the vsoDivxToDvd route and got a giant watermark in the middle of my screen (I guess it was the trial verson). So that doesn't work. I'm looking into getting a copy of Nero Vision. We'll see if that route produces better results.

If you got a watermark, you'r not using the program in the link.
    It's freeware and fully functional.

    IT WORKED! :D

    Attar you are awesome.

Out of curiosity (this doesn't matter, as the important bits are done) but is there any way you might reccomend to make a menu or to do multiple features on the same dvd? (such as a widescreen and regular presentation, since the file is only 1.1mb?)

As I said - its icing - the important thing is I have a working copy!

    Hooray!
