I was wondering if anyone know if DVD X Copy Platnium will work with a dual layer drive. Currently I have a single layer DVD-RW, but on some longer movies I get artifacts in the background of my movies. So I was thinking about upgrading to a dual layer drive, but if X Copy only will work with a disc size of 4.7 it wont help me at all.

    DaBirds...

If you go to a dual layer drive and dual layer media, you won't need a compression program like DVDXCopy. Just use Decrypter to rip the files, and a program like Nero to burn all the files.

If you want to continue using the DVD-5 (4.7) format, there are two approaches to eliminating the artifacts. If quality is most important, check out the DVD-RB/CCE software combo. It will give you the best quality possible. If you are willing to sacrifice some clarity on larger movies, then Shrink 3.2 (freeware) will do the job quite nicely.

To my knowledge XCopy doesn't support dual layer burning.
