I have beeb using my DVD Xcopy Platinum for a while and I just used it a week ago.. I went to use it today and now I get the activation screen again. I have already activated this on this computer and it shows that I still have 5 activation left on their web site but why would I want to use up an activation licence. What would make this one fail and what can be dont to correct the situation without using another activation license.. Thanks in advance. Billk
Unfortunately, I can't answer your questions but I have the same problem with XCopy Xpress. Mine seemed to have occurred when I upgraded from Win98SE to XP (may not have been one of my better moves). Haven't been able to get it to work, but my son uses it on his computer (also WinXP) and he has burned over 150 movies without any coasters. My bigger problem is that my burner won't burn a dvd or cd (LiteOn 851SX). External piece of crap! Getting ready to buy an internal burner today or tomorrow.
I have a little piece of advise for both of you and I'm not trying to upset anyone, but why are you worried about Xcopy at all? Get rid of it and get the 2 free proggys out there DVD Shrink and Decrypter (both free) They are both way more powerfull and up to date to handle the newer encryption that is starting to come on newer DVD movies out there. Xcopy is out of buisness and will not provide any updates so you are going to run into problems when you get to some newer movies anyway. By the way this would also fix your issue with activating Xcopy
bbmayo: I totally agree with you regarding Decrypter & Shrink -- I have both programs installed. The problem is, I can't get anything to burn. God knows, ScubaPete spent a lot of time trying to help me -- Thanks, Scuba! I'm able to rip to hd, but can't burn. I'm firmly convinced that it is the POS external LiteOn 851SX burner I have. What the heck, it won't even burn a simple CD! I was only remarking to wkiloski that I had "sorta" the same problem he is having. Since I couldn't get decrypter/shrink combo to work, I thought I would give my xcopy another try. Hadn't tried it since I upgraded to WinXP. When I tried to use it again, it wanted my activation license again and then wouldn't take it so I didn't fool with it anymore. As I stated earlier, my son uses it daily and I can't talk him into decrypter/shrink. The only successful burn I have had with decrypter/shrink was on his computer (new dell) using memorex media. Go figure. I'll try on mine again after I buy a new burner in a couple of days -- need to decide which one I want.
There are some listings in the X Copy Forum for activation problems. Try here. http://dvdxcopy.afterdawn.com/ This is where X copy posts should be. Good luck. Jerry
