After using smartripper and dvd2avi to rip a dvd, I used Vegas Video to read the avi files created and render the mpeg file. dvdit! was used to write the final disk on an A03 on WindowsXP. However, I see that dvd2avi created a separate audio file: movieAC3 T01 2_Och 192Kbps Delay -66ms.ac3. Evidently the audio is not encoded in the avi stream. This is confirmed by Vegas video, which shows only the video stream on the AVI's which were created. I tried opening the .ac3 file with Vegas, and got an unrecognizeable format. The burned disk works find; just has no audio.

How do I include the audio in the .avi stream, so that I can go: Smartripper-dvd2avi-vegas-dvdit!?

    Thanks!

Have DVD2AVI 'decode' and not 'remux' the audio. DVD2AVI will then create a WAV file and not AC3. Vegas will read WAV.

    Runtime......: 01:19:36 (114,520 fr)
    Video Codec..: DivX 4 (OpenDivX)
    Video Bitrate: 1105 kb/s
    Audio Codec..: 0x0055(MP3) ID'd as MPEG-1 Layer 3
    Audio Bitrate: 117 kb/s (58/ch, stereo) VBR
