    Hi everyone,

I have about 10 or so MPEG2 files (29.97 fps, interlaced) that I want to edit (cut out bad parts, merge contiguous sections from different files, etc.) and then add credits to.

My goal is to take these files and put them on a DVD (with menus) as well as convert it to XviD. I've never dealt with MPEG2 files before.

So, could someone help out this noob with some pointers about where to begin? I have looked around a bit and saw Womble MPEG2VCR, Adobe Premiere and DVDflick.

    Thanks,

Another popular option for MPEG-2 editing is VideoReDo Plus. I've been using it for a couple of years and I've found it to be a great program. You can find some guides in the Guides section. One of them is fairly specific to removing commercials, but it's worth looking at for general editing as well. There's information on DVD authoring in a stickies at the top of the DVD Authoring forum. I'm working on a series of guides on authoring DVDs from MPEGs right now, but I'm not sure when they'll be done.
