editing dvd footag

    i have recently bought a HITACHI D Z - M V 2 3 0 A
    and well the reason i bought it was to record footage and then edit the footage. Well i have not found any software to be able to do this since it records it in dvd format, does anyone know of any software or wayt to edit dvd footage. FOr example if i got a dvd movie and wanted to make a new edited version of it and tehn leave it on hard drive or burn it to cd? please i really need some help

    You can demux the VOB files using something like VOBrator and then use something like Ulead's DVD software (can't quite recall the name). I hear that you can edit MPEG2 files rather well with it. Go to their site and have a look around and try the demos.
