The battery wasn't charged (totally flat) and the power was cut so the Thinkpad 560x stopped. Now it wont start up. Only accesses the harddrive 2 times for a second or so. The harddrive keeps spinning but doesn't get "read" Screen stays dark but after about 2 minutes shows the thinkpad logo and right up the top just the numbers "178" (my quotes). Is this an error. If so in the IBM site it is listed as System Board (error) and "EEPROM is not functional" I try holding down F1 key at startup but no action there. Therefore can't see the bios. Anyone please have any suggestions? I was just about to take off all my data and transfer to new machine so this has come at an inopportune time. Thanks in anticipation!

doesn't sound good, sounds like a hardware problem like the bios or something being burnt out. or it could be that your hard drive crashed while it was trying to start up, not enough power could have killed the hd. you can always remove your hard drive. the info on the hd should be okay but you'll need to find a way to get the data out. good luck._X_X_X_X_X_[small]hope u get everythin u deserve.
