    Hello;

    I am trying to backup the movie The Punisher and I am getting an error message I have never seen befor. I open the disk in dvd shrink 3.2 to start the analysis and it stops about 30 seconds into it with a programming error message. I tried it again and got something about a missing handle. This has got me stumped. Most of the time I just clean the disk when I get cycle redundancy errors.
    This is a brand new movie, so not sure what the problem is. Any help would be appreciated.

    Sorry about not being so specific. The exact wording of the error message is as follows:

    Programming error - exception occured.
    The handle is invalid.

    Thanks for any help you can provide.

    Try ripping with DVD Decrypter first. I was able to do The Punisher

    Being a newbie and all, just wanted to let you know that everything worked using dvd decryptor. Small learning curve though. Had to try a couple of different things but ultimately got it to work. Learned a lot as well. Thanks for the tip. By the way, why does dvd shrink not work on some dvds?

    I wasn't able to Backup Punisher either untill I downloaded it to an Image file then ripped with decrypter. I also had one inadvertently ripped by shrink and this seemed to take much longer than Decrypter. It did 'arrive alive', but I had forgot to delete sub picture (subtitle) which annoys me so I redid the same Image File with Shrink re-authored and ripped with Decrypter. All's well in Back-up Land again.

    I also am having this problem with Punisher. A little more info:

    First I run DVD Decrypter (latestest as of 11-6-04) to build the file tree of the disk which appears to be a total size of about 8GB. Next I attempted to backup that data using DVD Shrink 3.2 and selecting the dropdown Use DVD Decrypter etc etc. It appears to work however it gets about 30 seconds in and bails with an error:

    Programming error - exception occured.
    The handle is invalid.

    I've tried this on two systems and both get the error. Is this some new form of copy protection?

    flip218:

    Did you use all the normal settings that are posted in the countless guides here?

    Thanks!

    Try installing a parallel install of DVD Shrink 3.17 using an alt path as the 3.2 DVD Shrink etc.

    Using 3.17 and using the DVD Decrypted files it built an ISO successfully.
