i am trying to encode a dvd into an .iso file so that i can burn it afterwards...but during the encoding period it keeps coming up with the error failed to read file, data error(cycle redundency check) - i have tried a few different dvds , but the problem still persists...i was wondering if anyone knew how to fix this or what is actually wrong?

Try ripping with DVDFab instead of the outdated Shrink, once done, you can then use shrink to complete the backup.

    DVDFab (free version)

    hi :)

A "CRC" error is most often caused by bad media - it could be any of the following:

    1. A dirty disc,
    2. A scratched disc
    3. A poor quality disc (cheap media if it happens during the "Burn" section of your work)
    4. A bad disc from the Mfgr.
    5. It can also be due to structural copy protection on a disk. (shrink will throw this error if it meets such protection it does not recognise)
    6. It can also be from a bad optical component in your drive.
