I've been trying to copy dvds using a combo of dvd decrypter and nero. Whenever i try and burn with nero it gives me an error. Originally with my sony burner, it would give an error about "reset occurred," and with my current samsung burner, it gives a "communication failed" error. I've been using ritek DL media trying to burn. I have logs for both:

This version is full of bugs, uninstall, run this clean tool
http://ww2.nero.com/nero7/enu/Nero7_CleanTool.html and then install this version from here 7.5.9.0 http://www.filehippo.com/download_nero_7_premium/

You might like to check here for a firmware update
http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=2246 I see yours is MYR5 which according to my source is an OEM version, if not then choose MYS6, although it doesnt look like firmware is a problem

DMA needs to be on, heres a guide to turn back on

    http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/260038

You have Roxio installed, it clashes with Nero, to remove, run this zapper http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/Uninstallers/Roxio-Zap.shtml

With your new burner (2nd log) you are using Nero 6, try uninstalling , run this clean tool http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/en/Clean_Tools.html and then install version of Nero 7 from link provided

Also shown as OFF...needs to be on, follow guide.

I've been unsuccessful in trying to turn DMA(what is this btw?) back on. I followed the guide you posted all the way through. here is a screen of my device manager thingy

i was originally using nero 7 with my old burner. i don't remember ever installing roxio on my system tho... when i got the new burner it came packaged with that older version of nero 6 so i thought i'd give it a shot.

    thanks for the help ^_^

First up I will ask to have this transferred to the Nero forum. Nvidia drivers are different and they normally show DMA as off, I would do the uninstall, run BOTH the clean tools and then update to 7.5.9.0 (dont d/l the 7.7.5.1 version) and try again. Nero is not really good for doing Dual Layer discs..I am not a big fan of Ritek discs.

I did more reading on that guide about turning DMA on, and one of the users had nvidia drivers like myself. i followed what he did and uninstalled the nvidia ide drivers and let it roll back to the microsoft drivers. DMA is now on and i'm burning a disc at the moment. so far so good. will post update in a few.
