It's in the wrong forum but I'll move it ;)

Looks like you're getting some kind of transfer or communication error. What happens if you try to copy to a temporary image on the hard drive as opposed to an on the fly copy?

Hello, for the past couple of days I have been trying to figure out this software, learning about the decrypter, shrinker, and Nero. I have been able to Decrypte the move spiderman then shrink it down to the appropriate size (4.30Gigs just to make sure it will fit on DVD) I had earlier problems with media, I baught DVD+R instead of DVD-R. Found out that my computer doesn't even recongnize DVD+R. In a success I was able to start burning using Nero. when it gets to about 4-6% finished it comes up with an error much like I have seen about on the forms. I am using Sony DVD-R media, don't know if it is any good or not. have tried to uninstall and reinstall Decypter, Shrink and Nero. still haven't backed up the movie yet. Does anybody have any sugestions of what I can do to complete the burn. have also tried burring with Decrypter and get same message.

So the only problem you're having is with the burn process correct?

What make/model burner are you using? What firmware version?

What is the media code on the Sony DVD-R's you're using? You can use this tool to find out:

    http://www.dvdinfopro.com/

It would help quite a bit if you could post an error log from Decrypter and Nero :)

    Hello,
Just yesterday I went out and bought some Memorex DVD-RW because I didn't want to keep wasting the non reWriteables. When I got home I tried buring onto the RW and the same error came up again (i/o something, sorry I keep forgetting) only this time it was way past the 5-6%. Erased the Disk and tried again. that time it worked. put it in DVD player and it worked like a charm. I don't think it is the software because I just downloaded it at the beginning of the week. I have a Toshiba labtop and the burner came with it. but to answer your first question, yes it is only the burn process that hangs me up. everything else seems to do its job wonderfuly.

Media quality can have a huge impact on the burn process. Low quality media is oftentimes more trouble than it's worth so I'd recommend getting your hands on some quality media such as Ritek RiDATA, Verbatim DataLifePlus, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden once you get everything squared away and running right.

I'd also suggest looking for an updated firmware for your burner since an old or incompatible firmware can cause just as many burn problems as bad media.

    hi again,
I picked up some Verbatim DVD-R, their "Digital Movie DVD-R" from Best Buy this morning. haven't tried them yet. Also today I just tried to burn the movie "Duplex" and when it was 99% of the way done it freaked out. It saied something about an illegal code or something. So now i'm running it through Decrypter to see if that doesn't get rid of it since it was just about done. I figure it has somekind of copy protection on it.

Also, how do I update my Firmware. My computer is brandnew, like 2 weeks old.

The burning engine for Decrypter can be temperamental at times. It may be worth a shot to download the trial for Nero 6 and give that a whirl. The trial for Copy To DVD would be a good one too. Shrink can use both of them to burn like it does with Decrypter.

To find the model # and firmware version for your drive you can use Nero Info Tool which can be found here:

    http://www.afterdawn.com/software/cdr_software/cdr_tools/nero_info_tool.cfm

There's a good chance your running the latest firmware if your drive is new but you never know.

thanx for your answers. I'm not sure but I think the new disc fixed the problem. That or running it through decrypter helped. I now have a great copy of "Duplex". Just to inform you, I do have the trial version Nero 6 and that is what I used to burn "Duplex" with. So between the two I think I fixed the Problem. Figured That is was the Media from all the other post around Afterdawn.

    Thanks for your answers.
