If you have a genuine box you will find the latest blue firmware Oct 2007 in Eamos FTA Library at the end of my post.

Hi again Sc0user, been out of the country since end of October.
Have tried to update firmware on the box but unfortunately it doesn't seem to want to download. I managed to find a program to unzip it but now nothing seems to happen via the dowmload process, i get the message about waiting for the receiver but nothing happens.

    Any ideas??

    Merry xmas.

Just unplug it and then plug it back in it should say "system reset".

Tried that nothing happens on the display, or on the computer.
Could it be the null cable?

Shouldnt be as you have already succesfully flashed a box with this or have you?

No, I haven't "flashed" a box. What does that mean?

When i click download, it asks which COM Port. No matter which i select it then tells me that the receiver culd not be detected and No COM port available. Any ideas?

    Merry Xmas

I presume you are using a null modem & USB adapter combo, (as per the link I gave you on the first page). This is the null modem cable you need your's may look like it but may in fact be a straight through RS232 lead. http://www.maplin.co.uk/Search.aspx?criteria=L71BT&DOY=2m6

Another thing to check is what port your USB adapter is pointing to:

    1. Go to the Start Menu
    2. Right click on "My Computer"
    3. Select "Properties"
    4. Click on the "Hardware" tab
    5. Click on "Device Manager"
    6. Click the + sign next to "Ports (COM & LPT)"
    7. One of the listed ports should indicate which port your USB adapter is connected to (e.g. COM1, COM2, COM3, etc.)
    8. Go back to Kuro UFL and make sure it is looking at the correct port.
    9. You should be able to transfer data once the correct port is selected

If you need drivers go here

Been and bought that cable today from maplins, unfortunately my laptop requires same shape connector but with 15 pins instead of 9, so it won't fit. That's why i tried the USB connector.
I'm using Vista and Device Manager doesn't list COM/Port for some reason, like the old Windows did.

Forget the bit about COM/PORT, sorted that now. But still No Receiver Detected.

Thats your problem, you need to use the USB adapter and null modem cable together. USB adapter plugs into the PC, one end of the null modem then plugs into the serial end of the USB adapter and the other end of the null modem cable plugs into the EV. You MUST use this combination.

Yes, mate. That's he combination I have been using.

Can anyone advise on what to do with my Eurovox Max V (I think it's red box)- all it has on is two dots - like time dots - no standby lights or anything else - don't see anything on tv channel.

What do I need to get it working again please??

I have a null modem cable.

With the display facing you, look at the top right hand corner of the box. Through the grills you will see the silver tuner, if it measures 8 slots of the grill you have a red box based on your time you bought it.

Then its a 2006, blue box. You can try a few things reflash, jtag or check the c14 capacitor on the psu board. I would check the board first, open the box if you see any bulging caps that is your problem.
