    Hey everyone,
I'm a noob at this whole ps2 modding deal but would this tutorial http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/348187
work for an old (fat one that came out first) ps2 also? I know that you can put in an internal HDD in it but it would require you to buy a network adapter and hdloader or hdadvance. so i want a cheaper alternative because im on a budget. BTW what is an ELF (file?) and why are they important in this process? Also all I'm going to use this for is to store games on and would I be able to store game data (like a memory card)? Thank You for the help

Get the network adapter and internal drive. You can skip HD Loader and just do a memory card exploit (using ELF files, also called homebrew)

you will be much happier with an internal drive which will have better game compatibility & faster load times
