Using a Pioneer DVR-111D flashed to latest 1.29. I have been using DVDFab HD Decrypter and then DVD Shrink 3.2/Nero6 with TDK DVD-R 16x discs no problems. Then a month ago, I couldn't burn with DVD Shrink anymore. So I upgraded to Nero8, but that didn't work either. I then installed Imgburn, and I was able to burn again for a few discs. Then I started getting errors. I defragged my hard drive, made sure I had at least 15% of free space, and I was able to burn one more DVD before I got this error below:

    any ideas? thanks.

hmm... I thought that was the entire log. I found this though - but it seems to be a log of all my burning attempts - if that is what you mean. Thanks!

Your discs are so bad that your burner can't even burn to them. Try some Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden.

Check your DMA to see that is enabled for all drives.

thanks, I was wondering if the discs might be crap. I will try some others.

In the meantime, I went to device manager and under properties for the Pioneer drive, I do not see an option for DMA setting. Under the IDE ATA?Atapi controllers I looked under Primary IDE and Secondary IDE Channels:
    1. Primary (under advanced settings). Device 0 - transfer mode: DMA if available. current transfer mode: Ultra DMA Mode-5 Device 1 - transfer mode: DMA if available. current transfer mode: not applicable.
    2. Secondary Device 0 - transfer mode: DMA if available. current transfer mode: Ultra DMA Mode-4 Device 1 - transfer mode: DMA if available. current transfer mode: PIO Mode.

Is this correct? If not, how do I change it? is PIO correct?

Nah, this needs to be DMA. Just right click it and uninstall then reboot...once rebooted windows will find the correct driver and install it in DMA mode. Presto chango.

You might get away with a few burns with those discs afterwards too, but I'd eventually try another brand.

hmm...it seems the Secondary Channel - device 1 still says PIO mode even after I uninstalled and rebooted. Device 0 still says DMA though. Is my drive "device 1" on the secondary channel? I also went and uninstalled both Primary and Secondary Channels, as well as uninstalling the driver for the Pioneed DVR-111d, and then rebooted a couple of times.

How else can I get rid of the PIO mode? I think this is slowing things down because I did try now with an HP DVD-R disk and I was able to burn a dvd. However it would only write at 1.1x, and during the verify mode it was 1.5x even though I had the settings set at 8x.

    thanks.
