    Hi,

I'm having trouble converting my 40GB c: drive from FAT32 to NTFS,
I followed the following instructions: -

    1. First, back up your data. The conversion process almost always works flawlessly, but there is no point in taking the risk.
    2. Click the <Start> button.
    3. Click <Run>.
    4. Enter "cmd" into the text field labeled "Open".
    5. Click the <OK> button.
    6. Enter the command "vol c:" to find the volume label for the C: partition.
    7. Enter the command "convert c: /fs:ntfs" to convert the C: partition from FAT32 to NTFS.
    8. When prompted, enter the volume label for the partition.

I have tried this and when it comes to restart is says that there is an error with the conversion.

Does anyone know what i can do to resolve this?

    cheers, Nug.

You may not have enough room left on the hard drive for the conversion. Converting to NTFS does take up a certain amount of room.

Hello, based on my experience these convertions from one file system to another, they really dont work really well a while after you start using your OS, because it fills it with alot of garbage files, viruses etc..etc, that sometimes make the conversion fail. When Ive done this and found to work flawlessly is after a recent format, when I forgot for example to choose the right Format. There is a possibility that there is not enough HD drive space neccesary to do the conversion: in that case, maybe you should keep some data on a external HD, or DVD while doing the conversion.
