I have a Sony DCR-TRV280 camcorder, and a laptop with Vista. The usb steaming with this camcorder does not work with Vista, but firewire does. Only problem is that my laptop has only usb ports. This may be a dumb question, but does anyone know if there are firewire/usb adapters, and if so, would this work with my laptop and camcorder (ie would I be able to capture my videos using moviemaker)?

I don't believe such a device exists, although in theory it could. Since firewire is essentially a network connection it would essentially be the same as making a USB NIC, which are fairly common devices.

My suggestion would be to get a Cardbus firewire card instead.
