Download the correct region update below.,,

    http://www.wiidmod.com/downloads.htm

Burn the file to DVD disc using ImgBurn or Nero.

Start your Wii then go to Disc Channel.

Now load the update disc into your Wii.

It will run for a few seconds and then you will get a message that says "Unable to read disc"

This is normal. After that your WiiD should be updated to the version 2 firmware.

    i am using dvd+r discs.

they are hyundai discs. when they are spinning there is a slight clicking noise, then it displays cannot read disc.

when it displays this the screen is black with white text.

Try using some DVD-R media. Wii systems can be picky at what media it will read.

The link below shows how to update and what the screen will look like. The update part of the guide is near the end.

sorry, just a few more questions.

I only have a DVD+R burner, so what are the best discs to use?

When downloading the firmware, when i double click the update file in winrar the file dummy.bin displays. is this the firmware file that i need to burn to disc?

If so, when trying to burn this file imgburn will not recognise this file. I only have nero 5.5 will this do it and how?

Sorry but im pulling my hair out, and there is already not much there!

all help will be greatly appreciated

You should be downloading an ISO

ImgBurn should recognize an ISO right off the bat. Try re-downloading the firmware and make sure it has the ISO in the file.

I used Memorex DVD+R, HP DVD+R, and HP Lightscribe DVD+R. All worked on my friend's Wiid installed Wii. You just have to burn at a slow rate, like 2x or 4x.

Don't open the ISO in the WinRar, burn IT.

    still not working

i have file wiidupdate_02_palnew(firmware).iso as the source in imgburn, and im burning at 2x.

when i try to update i get a black screen with white text telling me that a problem occured and to restart my wii and consult the manual.
when the disc is spinning there is a slight clicking.

then when i put my backup of red steel in which has been burned the same i get the same black screen.

Am i missing a setting in imgburn?

Did you install the modchip correctly? Make sure all points are soldered to the right points on the modchip.
