Floppy disk drive

    Hi small problem with my Floppy disk drive for some reason when i put a disk in to the drive nothing happens, by this i mean when i click on the drive in my computer a box comes up and says please insert a disk into drive A. Any ideas. THANKS

    Anyway in answer to your question.

    Does the light come on, if not check power lead is still connected and also the IDE lead is properly orientated - twist towards the drive end.
    Does the drive 'click' when you insert the floppy?
    If not, try and really push it in.
    failing that it has probably got a damaged mechanism where the micro switch isn't operating to say that there is a floppy in.

    Failing that:
    Buy a new one.................peanuts nowadays.............

    Thanks a lot I give that in the morning, I don't think it's the floppy because I've tryed two so far, so I'll have a look inside

    take a q-tip & isopropyl alcohol to the head of the drive & let sit for a few minutes before trying to read or write a disk
    baabaa, is not an ide cable which has a 40 pin connector but is a floppy cable with 34 pin connector
