I have a WMV8 file I wish to encode to mpeg, but the two encoders I have tried seems to choke on the file after a little while. Therefore I want to force them to use ffdshow instead of Windows native codecs to play this file. Is this in any way possible?

I've configured ffdshow to use libavcodec on WMV2/8.

Could it be that ffdshow won't take command over the file since it has WM9 audio?

It was the WM9 audio which was the issue. The ffdshow I use don't support it. I'll try and compile the CVS and see.

There is a great little tool for Converting WMV/ASF Files to AVI ,It is called "Stoik Video Converter" I use it all the Time to convert WMV/ASF Files to AVI useing the HuffYUV Codec then encode the Files to Mpeg..Stoic hasn"t choked on a File yet for me unless the File it self was dammaged...Cheers
