Friend just got a new eMachines computer with Windows XP and a Samsung DVD burner. The DVD burning program is Nero, which came with the unit. He has a movie on his hard drive in Video Clip. At least, if yo select the file and click "Properties", that 's what it says for file type. He cannot record it onto DVD. From his hard drive, it plays in Windows Media Player. We didn't try to do this, but Windows Media player seems to be saying that the only reason it won't burn it onto a CD is the length of the movie. However, he is interested in DVD vurning, not CD burning anyway. His burning program, (Nero)-came with the computer-says the only DVD file types he can burn are: A) .bup B) .vob C) .ifo In fact, Nero will not even find the Video Clip when you look through the Add window. How do I change the Video Clip file into any one of those three file types? Should he just split the movie into two parts, and try to burn onto CD? I saw some of the guides, but I could not make head nor tail of them as regards Video Clip format. As you can see, I'm a compete newbie here. Any help is appreciated.
Mayo: Thank you very much for your answer. However, it did not solve the problem. He has two Nero programs, apparently. The first is NeroExpress, which burns CD's and miniDVD, and Nero "Smart" something, which burns DVD's. I click on the Nero "Smart" burner, and it similar to your website illustrations. However, when you click the "Add" button-similar to a Browse button-the folder with the Video Clip movie does not appear. I go to the folder outside the Nero program, and the file is there. But the "Add" button feature does not show the movie. Also, the program seems to indicate that the only file formats it is interested in burning are the aformentioned: .bup .vop .ifo So, while I am new to DVD burning, I know a little about CD burning and it would indicate that, for better or worse, this program wants one of those three file types or forget about burning DVD's. {I am not familiar with any of those file types). Is there any program which converts Video Clip to one of those? Or is there something you can add to Nero "Smart" so it burns more fie types, notable Video Clip? PS: Is "Video Clip" the same as a "VCD" file? Or are they different file types? Again, any help is appreciated.
Yes there is and it is basically a add on to Nero its called NeroVisionExpress. If you go to the Nero site just download package number 2 (that is where NVE is) and install it dont I repeat do not install InCD. After you have downloaded and installed NVE there is a guide at my site called "Using NVE to create a DVD move" you can use that to get you started. Remember Nero Vision Express not Nero Vision they are two completly different programs
Okay, I go to Street smart, click on DVD-Video files, and go to the burning window. Click Add, and go to the folder which contains the Video Clip movie. But the machine says "No compatible file found". Once again, the window indicates .bup, .vob, or .ifo files. I tried using Nero Vision Express, and I fwtr the following choices: 1. Make CD 2. Record directly to VR 3. Make Slide show.... 4. Capture Video to Hard Drive 5. Open saved Project or Disc Image I don't even know waht a VR is. At any rate, it said something about buying Nero's codec. Helllllppppp!!!
You didnt look at my guide, and it looks like you opened Nero Express not Nero Vision Express. Please look at the guide and it will shed some light on this manner for you
Well, I tried to follow the instructions as given, but there was a problem. Incidentally, the machine I am working on is at my friend's house, and he is gone for the weekend, so I will try to reconstruct from memory. I went to nero.com. I downloaded Update, Package 1 and Package 2 into their own separate folders.(Decided to do Package 1 since the site talked of "increased functionality". Installed both. Aftr I installed, I looked in the list of programs for NeroVisionExpress. Saw nothing. Went into Program Files into the Ahead folder, and saw nothing. Did see NeroVision, but was warned that was different program. Did Search-Files and Folders for NeroVision Express, came up only with a pdf file which I am not sure even had the manual. One other file-but not the application. Out of desperation, clicked on the NeroVison prograam. On my screen appears "NeroVisionExpress SE ver 3". As I recall, since the program is not on my computer,I clicked on "Video" and up came the following choices: 1. Make CD 2. Record directly to VR 3. Make Slide show.... 4. Capture Video to Hard Drive 5. Open saved Project or Disc Image Tried to reach NeroVision Express thru Street Smart, no go. So, I don't know what to do now. Wasn't NeroVision Express supposed to b on Update Package 2? Out of desperation, I downloaded another update Package, the one with NeroMedia Player. I enabled all file extensions for it. I was hoping that maybe the NeroMediaPlayer had a "burn DVD" option on it, but no luck. The Nero Player could not even play the movie, like Windows Media Player could. However, after I disabled all extensions and put the movie back to the Windows Media Player, I saw that that the file extension had changed to .avi. It was not that before I converted the movie to NeroMedia Player, then back to Windows Media Player. Thought I would throw that in.
Once the conversion from Windows Media Player file to Nero Media Player File back to Windows Media Player file yielded the .avi extension on the movie, I decided to try this site's Guide toburning dvd's from avi extensions. I followed the instructions and downloaded the following: AVIcodec TMPGEnc IFOEdit Then, ignoring the page on subtitles, I clicked next on: "Next: Convert AVI to MPEG-2 >>" On that page I got as far as the following: "Select the source video On second page you should first click the Browse button next to the box that says Video File. This opens up a file dialog and you should now locate your AVI file (if you joined multiple AVI clips into one, choose this joined AVI). Select the file and click Open." I tried to open the movie. It would not open. So that was that. I appreciate all your patience and help so far. I just thought I would fill you in on what I did. I tried to follow the directions as you gave them. Do you have any idea where I made my mistake?
No, he doesn't have that on his computer. Nothing like it. I kind of wondered why. I will reinstall when I work on his computer next week. Should I download the 30 MB file all over again, or just re-install the self-extracting downloaded file which is still sitting in it's own folder?
It should be 33.9MB to be exact. If it is then just re-install it if not go ahead and download it again.
I removed the Nero Vision Express via Add/Remove in Control Panel. Then I reinstalled from the self-extracting file. Tried it-same old thingas before. Also, in Add/Remove, Nero Express SE was listed, but there was no file size listed after it. It was underneath Nero OEM, which had a file size of 33.9 MB, but nothing for Nero Vision Express. I'll remove it via control Panel, and downolad a new one, and procedd, but I am not holding my breath. During Package 2 installation, I made sure the video files, not audio, were clicked for QuickTime. Does that affect anything? Also assuming this doesn't work out, I would wonder about two things A) Is there a way to get the codecs into Nero besides NeroVisionExpress? B) Does Nero have a help forum to see about possible installation problems?
hi this file you got from thr start what was it? use avicodec to tell you! only the very fisrt video clip as you say! report back....
Uh-oh. I see the problem. I went to: Start Nero Startsmart Nerovision Express SE Make a CD Other Video Formats Then got the following dialog box on the screen: I go to the link, and they say they want $24.95 On the one hand it seems to indicate that if you have Nero version 6 the updates shold be free, on the other hand they want $24.95. Talked to my friend whom I setting this up for. He said he will be pay the money, if there is no other way. Is there another way to get these codecs into a Nero or some ther burning software for free? Windows Media Player plays the movie-it must have the codec. Any help is appreciated-as has your help so far.
Rotary: Thanks for the help. I opened AVICodec to try to find out what the file was. I went to the "Folder" window in AVICodec, and went to the folder the file was located in. The movie file did not show in the window of AVICodec. It only got the avi file extendion AFTER I selected it to be viewed by Nero Multimedial Player, then switched it back to being viewable on Windows Media Player. It did not have that exptendion before. It only said "Video Clip" when "Properties" was clicked before.
If you download the correct version of NVE you don't need that plug in. If you go to Downloads on Nero's website and select the updates you can then install the the packages you need from there Package 1 & 2..
bb: I shall go to Nero.com and see what updates I should have installed before packages 1 and 2. Will report back-not sure if I can get back right away, Nero had a slow download last time, although this is cable modem. Thank you.
I have Nero version 6.6.0.8 I went to www.nero downloads. I went to three screens. Here they are. Previously, I downloaded Package 1 and 2 Screen One. That is the one didn't work. So here is the text of the three screen we are working one. From this, I would gather that I would download package 1 and 2 of screen one. But that is what I did, and that is the problem we are having, asking for the extra cost plug in. Of course, When NeroVisionExpress shows, it calls it self Nero vison Express SE verson 3. I don't know if that changes anything. I can use instructions on how to proceed fromo here, and from which screen.
