Gamecube Modchip

    I'm curious as to why there isnt a gamecube modchip since there are now 8cm dvd-r's?

    Does anyone have any input?

    It is in developement. From what I have read it should be released within the next few months. There was a video out showing a backup and a GC booting it a while back from said developers.

    From what i hear, you don't even need a modchip for gamecube games.
    Nintendo thought the 8cm dvd would be enough.

    Can these 8 cm dvd's be burned with a home dvd burner?

    Why not 8cm cd-rs can be burned with a home cd burner.

    sounds too easy, i think nintendo might be using a firrent format altogether, remember like the 1gig dreamcast GCD format?

    It is just like most other game systems. It needs a modchip to help boot a backup. Although I think it's all a crock o sh*t that that there is no way to make a "Perfect" boot disc for every system out (I guess because the profit margin/proprietary use is higher with a hardware peice)

    Has anyone tried to burn backups of gamecube onto those 8cm cd-r's?

    I hear the panasonic Q can play GC backups mainly because it can play DVD as well.....but dont know for sure....
