I just purchased a LITE-ON SH-16A7S (SATA) DVD burner and have been having trouble ripping DVDs. The first five or so I ripped gave me no problems, but lately I get a MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION BSoD after about 1/3 to 1/2 of the rip (with either ImgBurn or DVDFab Decrypter). I also have this problem when verifying DVDs with ImgBurn, so I'm inclined to think it has something to do with the drives ability to read DVDs. I've not yet had any problems burning a DVD. System specs are below.

    XP Pro
    Athlon 3500+
    1 gig RAM
Gigabyte GA-K8N Pro-SLI Mobo, nForce 4 SLI chipset
    WD WD2500JS HDD (SATA)
    nVidia GeForce 6800 GS

Might this be a problem with overheating? Or the SATA interface? Any thoughts or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Bah, just noticed this is the wrong forum for this question. Sorry about that.

Also, meant to mention that I'm having no problems ripping with my older DVD-ROM drive, with IDE interface. It's a good bit slower, but has never run into any BSoDs.
