I wasn't sure where else to put this, so I hope it goes here okay... I need to get an External DVD burner for my laptop. I was wondering if anyone had suggestions as to what brand/model/etc I should get? Is paying an extra $50 or so worth it to get a better brand? I was looking at the link below. Anyone know of a better place to get one (online or a local store)? http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/category/category_slc.asp?CatId=483
Personally id get something like a internal pioneer 108 or 107 (bit less but no dual layer) and chuck it in a aluminium enclosure
I highly recommend the Plextor PX-708UF external burner. Plextor is known for their quality and dependability. I have this drive and wouldn't trade it for anything. _X_X_X_X_X_[small] [bold]GO VOLS![/bold]..Dell Media4600, XP,Pentium 4 @2.80GHz/800Mz,512MB,280HDw/8MB,17" flat panel,AIO-A920,8xDVD-ROM,integrated 5.1 audio, HPdc4000,PlextorPX-708UF,LiteOn SO[/small]
i had wondered about that as well (getting an internal and putting it in one of those enclosures)...but when i found them at the store, those things are damn exspensive...know of a good 'cheap' one? I don't want to spend a lot more unless it's really worth it.
well, that lets Plextor out, they ain't cheap. You can get a good LiteOn, soon to be the no.1 manufacturer of DVD burners and a very good brand, for about 70.00 and an external USB or Firewire case for about 20.00 which would total 90.00 + shipping.(about a 100.00) If you would like the URL, let me know. _X_X_X_X_X_[small] [bold]GO VOLS![/bold]..Dell Media4600, XP,Pentium 4 @2.80GHz/800Mz,512MB,280HDw/8MB,17" flat panel,AIO-A920,8xDVD-ROM,integrated 5.1 audio, HPdc4000,PlextorPX-708UF,LiteOn SO[/small]
