Guys if I have no chip.........

    If I have no chip, a version 1 ps2, AR MAX(retail) and a DVD-r is there anyway I can play movies on my PS2 with sound?

    a backup movie should play on a ps2(as long as its writen in the correct file format)without the need for a mod of any kind

    Can you please be specific in your anwers :)
    What kind of format would it read, and DVD-R is okay correct?

    [bold] yes. since your ps2 is version 1, it will only read dvd-r format.

    what kind of video format would it have to be, mpeg 1? can it read dvix(avi's)?

    [bold]i think ps2 only read dvd and cd format.

    If you want to play dvd 'backup' movies, they have to be in either a dvd-compliant format for you to play them w/o any kind of mod on your ps2. If you have a fliptop, you can play divx as well with the ps2 reality media player.
