Hi there, maybe I'm mixed up, but I thought that DVDs and SVCDs were both MPEG2. I have Cyberlink PowerDVD and it plays my DVDs just fine. However, I cannot play SVCDs at all.

I'm having problems similar to someone who posted over a year ago... (http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/45089) but when I read that thread I never did see a solution that worked for me or that person.

The file is definitely SVCD. It plays in my standalone DVD player. AVICodec hangs, as does Windows Media Player 9 when I try to open the file.

I was looking at http://www.updatexp.com/codec-svcd.html and since it said to "NEVER have more than one MPEG2 decoder (DVD software) installed at a time" I'm hesitant to install any specific svcd codec in case that messes up my current DVD playback.

Any advice/help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!
