    Hello.

I have a PS2 Version SCPH-39003 with no attached modifications of any sort. I am from the UK so games are PAL.

I am looking to purchase a package that allows me to backup ps2 games onto my HDD.

These seem to be the two main ones. HD advance has a bigger TOC??

Will I just need, 1) Network Adapter
    2) Hard Drive (maxtor 120GB)
    3) Software (HD Loader or HD Advance)
To back my games onto the HDD and run them.

Can someone list the Advantages and Disadvantages of both of them? Please advise me what one to get.

i've a pal ps2 with no modifications of any kind using hdadvance. you're right in what you need:
    1) network adaptor. £20
    2) hard drive maxtor 120 is ideal: £40 when i bought it a few months ago.
    3) hd loader or advance. £30 max.
i would suggest hdadvance only because it works perfectly for me. my friend has hdloader and it doesn't boot 100% of the time. they share exactly the same features. i bought mine from modchipstore.com.

installation of the drive is very very easy even if you know nothing about hardware.

altogether, everything including postage came to about £100. definately worth it though for the convenience and faster load times.

only difference between the two is that advance 2.0 can read up to a 200GB HHD while loader can only read 137GB. i have loader, it works perfect.

actully with HD advance 2.0 it will be able to read up to 2 TB HDD's so you could even put a 400GB HDD in there.

Hey mickK, could you give us a link on where we can pick up one of those 2 terrabyte hard drives please.

I'm sure we would ALL go out and pick one up. Also -can you get a SCSI, 10'000 RPM 2 terrabyte HD as well?

    Thanks.

oh sorry man I lost it :), no but that is where it will max out although by the time there will be there should be a PS10 and by that time too I hope the xbox has finally crashed and burned out of existence.

Can someone post the TOC sizes of the 2 HD Advance discs.

Also wih HD Advance do i have to use the disc(s) everytime when i want to play games off the HDD?

    It would appear so.
I just leave one disk in the PS2 and it boots off that to the disk menu each time.
Much easier and quicker than picking dvd's though.

Does anyone know if it's possible to use the hard disk as a memory card rather than to just back up game?
