Ok so I've searched through the site and have been unable to find any article or guide in reference to my issue. I currently have Directv and I am about to upgrade my equipment. How can I transfer the shows I currently have on my DVR to my computer or the new DVR or any other format? Any help is greatly appreciated.
You do realize the engineers did everything in their power to prevent you from doing what you want to do? I know a guy that networked his DVR to his home network. He can watch his DVRs from any room. He is able to move off his favorites to a HD but I think he has to move them back to play. Sorry I don' know more than that. What you want to do isn't easy or cheap. It would be easier and cheaper to buy a DVD recorder. You can get one of those for under 200 USDs.
