I have a 180 gb hardrive which has been partitioned into 5, (c,d,e,f,g) with the G drive being the main system drive where windows xp is installed. What i want to do is format my G drive, as service pack 2 has totally screwed my system up even after uninstalling it.
My problem is the drive will not format. I have made a start up disk and told it to format but the drive is never recognised. Could someone give me some advice on how they go about formatting the main system partition, as my pc just dont want to do it. Any help greatly appreciated =).

what format is 180?gig hd, fat32 or ntfs. sounds like ntfs & boot disk is win9x for fat32 so it sees drive as non-dos
