HDD not being detected

    ok..i built this new cpu...here are the specs

    Maxtor 160 SATA HDD
    Sony IDE DVD-ROM
    Intel Core 2 Duo
    P5GC-MX/1333
    Nvidia 8400 gs


    here is the problem

    i built the pc and connected the sata to the hard drive and the other end to the first sata port. i also have the IDE sony dvd drive and connected with the ide cable. when i put it in my xp boot disk it gets to the point where i press enter to setup windows then i get the error message where my hard drive isn't getting detected..any help..

    When you are installing Windows, it will say to press the F6 key if you have a SCSI or other special driver to provide, then a little later you will be asked for a floppy disk containing the driver.

    does the bios see the hd?
