HDD Password

    I'm interested in buying a laptop from my work it's clearance and it's a Toshiba , it has been returned a while ago but can still be sold , the only problem is it has an HDD password set that I cannot get by , any help ? the customer set it and then returned it.

    Look in the manual for a way to reset.

    As a last resort it can be reformatted

    What kind of password?

    Start up, login, file, folder?

    that the thing it wont boot up off a disc or anything to do a format it just prompts for an hdd password

    With the OS disc in the CD Drive.
    When u are booting and there is still a black screen.
    It should say boot from CD> Press any key

    Sounds like you're saying it's a BIOS password...one that has to be put in before the computer will go beyond the POST screen.

    Remove the battery. Wait 30 seconds, and place it back in.
